WINERY: Sertura
WINE: Irpinia Aglianico DOC

WINERY: Pianirossi
WINE: Sidus Montecucco DOC

COUNTRY: Italy
VINTAGE: 2016
TASTING NOTES: Blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano. Dark cherry. Earthiness. Herbal notes with black fruit and spice. Classic Toscana profile without being overly rustic. Bone dry. Well balanced with a long finish. Extremely well priced for the quality.
WINERY: Mantellassi
WINE: Mentore Morellino di Sansano DOCG
REGION: Tuscany
COUNTRY: Italy
VINTAGE: 2020
TASTING NOTES: 85% sangiovese, 15% cabernet sauvignon. Bing cherry. Stewed red fruit on the palate. Soft tannins. Smokiness on the finish. Pricing competitive for Tuscany and appropriate for the appellation.
WINERY: Cinciano
WINE: Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG
REGION: Tuscany
COUNTRY: Italy
VINTAGE: 2015
TASTING NOTES: “Classic” Chianti Classico nose. Black cherry. Slovian oak 24 months is prevelant. 100% Sangiovese. Leather, earthiness and a hint of olive tapenade. Long, silky finish. Priced appropriately for this relatively new appellation. The issue continues to be in the commercial market that pricing is nearly at the level of Brunello di Montalcino and very few consumers appreciate the “Gran Selezione” appellation enough to pay equivalent prices at retail.
WINERY: Cinciano
WINE: Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG
REGION: Tuscany
COUNTRY: Italy
VINTAGE: 2016
TASTING NOTES: Tasted with the 2015 vintage. Lovely wine. This would be a super star in a blind tasting. Bright fruit and classic nose like the 2015 vintage. Lacks some complexity although very smooth. Notes of raspberry and cherry. Long and enjoyable finish.
WINERY: La Chevalerie
WINE: Margaux AOP
REGION: Bordeaux
COUNTRY: France
VINTAGE: 2019
TASTING NOTES: Black currant and cherry. Some vanilla on the palate. Oak too aggressive with marshmellow quality. Some cocoa. Good acidity. Very well priced for the appellation but quality is also consistent with the pricing. I’d call this a Northern European grocery store wine in that it is priced competitively to hit a retail price point for the consumer market. Does not hold up against proper Margaux but solid for what it is.
WINERY: Scrimaglio
WINE: Gavi di Gavi DOCG
REGION: Piemonte
COUNTRY: Italy
VINTAGE: 2021
TASTING NOTES: White peach dominates the nose. Medium weight with beautiful roundness and nice acidity on the finish. Notes of green apple and citrus. Wonderful expression of this terroir.
WINERY: Scrimaglio
WINE: Langhe Arneis DOC
REGION: Piemonte
COUNTRY: Italy
VINTAGE: 2021

WINERY: Tresors de Loire
WINE: Muscadet Sevre et Maine Sur Lie
REGION: Loire Valley
COUNTRY: France
VINTAGE: 2020
TASTING NOTES: Nose has tropical notes, banana and citrus. Lovely minerality on the palate with green melon shining through. Round and medium bodied. Some salinity on the finish. Very pleasant and well priced.
WINERY: Tresors de Loire
WINE: Chinon
REGION: Loire Valley
COUNTRY: France
VINTAGE: 2020
TASTING NOTES: Raspberry and earthy qualities on the nose. Red fruit, spice and pepper on the palate. Mouthfeel is a little thin. Some graphite on the finish. Appropriately priced for the appellation.
